How long have you worked with Norman R. Wright & Sons?
Since 1909 – First known as Alex Baddiley and Sons.
Where or how did the original relationship develop?
The original workshop was in McConnell Street Bulimba. It was our Great grandfather Alex Baddiley who started the business back in 1909. The relationship started then and we began doing the engineering on the vessels NRW were building.
Baddileys or Lex Marine are one of the longest serving suppliers of Norman R Wright & Sons, why do you think that’s the case?
Both of our business and our people us take pride in our work and we are very loyal to our customers and to each other.
What do you and your team enjoy most about working with Norman Wrights?
We enjoy the beginning / planning stage of a new build all the way to the final production. This can take up to 2 years, so when we launch a vessel and go on the sea trials it’s a great feeling to see the amazing accomplishment we have made together.
Why do you think Norman Wrights have remained successful in business for so long?
They have great communication skills and work well/closely with their clients and suppliers.
What would be one of the highlight projects you have collaborated on and why?
Laura J was an original boat that we built together in the late 80’s. We did a total refit in 2016 with NRW for the original owner. It was great to see her totally re-engined and refurbished to A grade white boat standard.
